Here at Island Hyundai we know that community is more than just a group of people within the same area. Community is about support, help, compassion, and service. This is why we actively participate within our Staten Island community.
September is childhood Cancer Awareness Month. One of the programs we participate in is Hope On Wheels which is a national independent non-profit organization committed to helping kids fight cancer. Hyundai dealerships across the U.S. began Hyundai Hope On Wheels over fifteen years ago. Since 1998 Hyundai has been involved with this fight against childhood cancer and has helped raise more than $100 million in the fight against childhood cancer. With that amount of support, Hope On Wheels has become one of the leading supporters in the battle against childhood cancer. Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels helps by funding innovative research, creating public awareness, stimulating social media conversation, and serving as a thought leader.
Every thirty-six minutes forty-four children every day, fifteen thousand kids a year, will be diagnosed with this disease. One in five won’t survive, four of six will encounter side effects from treatment and the cure rate is only at 80%. Only 4% of all federal cancer research funding gets dedicated to pediatric cancer. This is a top reason why Hyundai is so involved and has been helping to provide grants to aid in the pediatric cancer research. More than 820 Hyundai Dealers across the nation participate. With every purchase at a Hyundai dealership a small donation is given to the cause. This makes our customer’s active in the cause without them even knowing it. Our Mission is to raise awareness, donate life-saving research funds and celebrate the lives of children affected by this disease. This year, research grants will be given to 45 hospitals across the nation bringing us one step closer to creating a cure.
