Shaped by Hyundai’s innovative Fluidic Sculpture design, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid’s stylish, aerodynamic styling speaks of sophistication and power. The Sonata Plug-in Hybrid’s 9.8 kWh lithium polymer battery system is approximately five times larger than the Sonata Hybrid’s battery, is capable of a class-leading 40 mpg combined in charge sustaining mode or 99 MPGe combined in charge-depleting electric vehicle (EV) mode, and can be charged in under three hours. A 154 horsepower 2.0-liter Nu four-cylinder GDI engine delivers 140 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a 50kW electric motor, giving the Sonata Plug-in Hybrid the ability to operate exactly as the Sonata Hybrid if onboard battery power should be depleted. The Sonata Plug-in Hybrid also delivers a 0.24 coefficient of drag, which is industry-leading and on-par with the Tesla Model S.

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid gives its owners an unprecedented level of control with an exclusive Blue Link smartphone app which includes a three-year complimentary trial to Blue Link Connected Care with Charge Management. Owners have the unique ability to remotely monitor and manage charging options such as plug and charge status, time left until fully charged, start or stop charging, set up charging set schedule, existing battery level, real-time electric and fuel range, and vehicle diagnostics and status.
